On 18 June, the Ricardo Leong Institute of Global and Area Studies (RLIGAS) of the Dr. Rosita G. Leong School of Social Sciences (RGL-SoSS), Ateneo de Manila University, held a Focus Group Discussion Session for the project titled “Defining Anticipated Health Needs: Benchmarking an Emerging Philippine Methodology with the Republic of Korea Foresight Studies.” This session followed the synchronous survey answering activity conducted on the eDelphi platform last 3 June.
Facilitated by Dr Dennis B Batangan, MD, MSc (Heid), RLIGAS-RGL-SoSS Research Fellow, and Rian Mitchell Piamonte, student researcher and assistant at the Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC) – Ateneo de Manila University, the session aimed to build consensus on key topics that had not achieved agreement during the initial eDelphi survey round.
The team began with an explainer on the survey’s objectives and content, followed by a presentation of preliminary findings to a select group of participants. The participants, in turn, shared their reasoning behind their earlier survey responses and engaged in collaborative discussion to work toward a shared understanding of previously divisive issues.
This event forms part of the broader initiative to localize foresight methodologies for strengthening the Philippine health systems.
