Para Kay Padre Roque, Mula sa Pintor

I would like to share some snapshots taken by Mark Nilo Odiaman of the centenary event for Fr Roque Ferriols, SJ, organized by the Ateneo de Manila University's Philosophy Department alumni and faculty. The opening program was attended by faculty, students, alumni and guests led by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S Almario who was a member of the Ateneo faculty. School officials were also present headed by VP for Higher Education Dr Marlu Vilches, PhD, Dean of the Ateneo School of Humanities Patricia Lambino, PhD, and Dr Leland dela Cruz, Assistant Vice President for Social Development, Environment, and Community Engagement (AVP-SDECE).
The “cuore”-group that made the celebration possible, headed by Professor-Emeritus Leovino Ma Garcia, PhD., Department Chair Wilhelm PJ Strebel, PhD., Prof Jovino "Jovi" G Miroy, Mr Wilzel A Adriatico, Department Instructor, and AB Philosophy alumnus Marvin B Aceron.
Artistic presentations made the event more meaningful, thanks to Mr Ron Capindig who showed his thespic prowess with a Hamlet soliloquy in Filipino, and Mr. Toto Serioso with his renditions of Fr. Manoling Francisco’s “Mariang Ina Ko”, and a self-composed song Legacy.
It was good to see my batchmates, among them were Prof Maita S. Salvador, Ms Gay Ace Domingo, and Ms Rina Tamayo.
I am very grateful indeed to have been made a part of this remembrance program and celebration.
Maligayang ika-100 kaarawan sa langit, Padre Roque, mahal na mahal ka namin!
