[AGS] Food Conservation Month

04 Jan 2024

Food Conservation Month

Hey Pals! Did you know that over 9.4 million tons of food end up in the trash? That is like a gigantic mountain of wasted yumminess! But here's the exciting part: we have a special goal called Target 12.3 from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and it looks like a mission for superheroes!

Target 12.3’s plan is this. It wants to cut in half the amount of food each person wastes around the world. Imagine everyone using only what they need—no more tossing out those tasty treats!

However, it is not just about us. Target 12.3 also wants to make sure that we don't lose too much food that is being grown and delivered to us. It is to ensure that our food takes the coolest adventure from the farm to our tables without getting lost.

In our country, January marks the beginning of the Food Conservation Month. The month-long event is celebrated every year in line with Proclamation No. 1398, s. 1975.

The whole month is dedicated to making sure everyone has enough nutritious food! We can be like little superheroes if we participate in this mission! Here are some superhero tips:

1. Be a Food Friend:
Let us be friends with our food! Only buy what we want to eat. That way, no food gets left behind.

2. Share the Love:
Share our extra snacks with friends or family. It's like a surprise party for our taste buds!

3. Watch the Clock:
Keep an eye on the clock. When food gets close to its special date, let's give it extra love by using it before it goes on vacation to the bin.

4. Tell Everyone:
Be the superhero messenger! Tell everyone in our super squad about Target 12.3 and how we can all be food-saving superheroes.

5. Big Smiles for Leftovers:
If we have yummy leftovers, let's give them a big smile and save them for later. Leftovers make the best surprise snacks!

So, buddies, let's put on our superhero capes and join Target 12.3's fantastic mission! We can be the heroes who make sure no food feels left out and that our planet stays happy! 🌍💚
