On 7 December 2023, the Executive Education Program unit of the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), in partnership with the Senate Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) and the Institute for Policy, Strategy, and Developmental Studies, Inc (IPSDI), conducted the “Public Policy Formulation and Analysis for Leaders” training program held at the Senate of the Philippines.

Forty (40) participants consisting of Senate staff and directors joined the training to learn theories and on-the-ground public policy applications from ASoG Professor of Praxis, Former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV.

Senate President Pro Tempore and Senator Loren Legarda inspired the participants with her opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of empathy and compassion to serve. LRB Director Mr Jose Villapando then introduced the Human Library Project (HLP) with its continuous effort to aid its endeavor towards good policy making through the dissemination of information on legislative-related information, research process, and the like to the staff and employees of the different offices of the Senate.

Former Senator Trillanes proceeded with his lecture on policy-making, followed by breakout session workshops to equip the participants with a comprehensive understanding of effective policymaking in the public sector through the exploration of case analyses, emphasizing practical applications that seamlessly connect theory to implementation.

Ms Anna Amores from the Legislative Bill Drafting Service office said the program had refreshed her knowledge about policymaking. She expressed her appreciation for the program and hoped to apply her new knowledge to her work.

ASoG Dean Dr Philip Arnold P Tuaño expressed his gratitude and appreciation to everyone in attendance at the training in his closing remarks. “You emerge from this training as upcoming leaders and changemakers that will mold the future,” he said as he extended ASOG's support to the new batch of participants who completed the training program.
