OMI launches Despite the Distance: A Book-journal to Reflect on the Pandemic
22 Sep 2022 | Office of Mission and Identity
These days seem like we are back to the way things were before the pandemic, except for the fact that we are still wearing our facemasks. As we ease into the new normal, there may be an invitation to revisit the past two years - not to wallow or despair, but to gather the learnings so we can move forward better.
Despite the Distance: A Book-Journal to Reflect on the Pandemic was born out of this desire to harvest meaningful lessons. It is a collection of some of the reflection articles posted by the Office for Mission and Identity from March 2020 to November 2021. At the same time, several questions and space for reflection are included to encourage introspection.
The book launched on 21 September 2022, 3:30pm at the Matteo Ricci Room C and streamed via Radyo Katipunan.
Fr Ro Atilano SJ facilitated the launch, which was also a recollection of sorts. Fr Nono Alfonso SJ and Fr Bobby Yap SJ spoke about the context of the book, and shared inspiring words for the community. Contributors and collaborators then read a few of the articles, as the community was invited to reflect for a few moments on the experiences brought forth by the pandemic.
