Scientific Mission held at the Riga Technical University
31 Oct 2019
Dr. Charlotte Kendra Gotangco Gonzales went on a scientific mission in October 2019 to Riga Technical University Institute of Energy Systems and Environment (RTU-IESE) in Latvia. The mission aimed to strengthen the joint research with RTU-IESE on developing a system dynamics-based approach to operationalize resilience in the context of Latvia and Metro Manila. The mission included a seminar on "Systems Thinking for Resilience and Sustainability in Research and Practice", where Dr. Gotangco Gonzales shared insights and challenges in conducting System Dynamics modeling and research in the disaster resilience context in Metro Manila and the initiatives of Ateneo de Manila University to apply resilience and sustainability studies.
The mission was held in collaboration with Prof. Francesco Romagnoli of RTU-IESE, and is part of the Erasmus+ CABARET project. The initiative also supports the development of the system dynamics model on resilience that is part of the IDRC-funded project "Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines: Investing in Climate and Disaster Resilience" (CCARPH).
