University Way of the Cross
Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. Let us open ourselves more fully to God's saving love for all during this graced season, and respond more ardently through our daily offering of prayer, work and service. In a special way, let us come together and walk the Way of the Cross as a University Community that seeks reconciliation and communion with Christ, country, communities and creation with a conviction in the transformative power of the Lord's Paschal mystery.
All members of the community (students, faculty, professionals, staff, administrators, parents, and alumni) are invited to participate in the University Way of the Cross on Friday, 28 March 2025, at the Loyola Heights campus. This year, the Ateneo Senior High School through the Office of Campus Ministry will lead us in prayer and reflection.
This year's theme, “A Pilgrimage from Disappointment to Fulfilment,” is inspired by Spes Non Confundit, Pope Francis’ bull of indiction for the Jubilee Year of Hope, which reflects on Christian hope, suffering, and redemption.
The event will begin with the Holy Eucharist at 3:45 PM in the St Aloysius Gonzaga Chapel (G/F Formation and Learning Center, ASHS), followed by the Way of the Cross at 4:30 PM. Participants are encouraged to wear white as a symbol of unity and hope.
As we journey through the Way of the Cross, may we deepen our trust in God's unfailing love and become “tangible signs of hope for our brothers and sisters who experience hardships of any kind” (Pope Francis, 09 May 2024).
