SUBJECT:
Supplemental Memo on the Date of Graduation
Following the Dean’s Council Meeting last 14 October and consistent with University Policy that requires students to be officially enrolled in the term they graduate from, the 6 August 2020 memo on the Date of Graduation is effectively modified as follows:
- The STRAMA course of all MBA programs requires a final oral defense of the capstone project. As such, all students in good standing but are not able to successfully defend their capstone project at the end of the term shall be given a grade of INC (Incomplete). Unlike INC grades in other courses, students are given until the end of the next trimester to defend their capstone project and earn a final grade. Students in the MBA-Regis program are given two terms to complete their INC grades. There is no charge for the completion of INC grades in STRAMA.
- The date of graduation of those who complete their INC grades in STRAMA is the last day of the trimester they were enrolled in.
- Following the policy on INC grades, those who are not able to complete their INC grades by the end of the allowed completion period shall be given a 0.0 grade in STRAMA.
How this will affect students enrolled in STRAMA as of the third trimester (including Regis Term 5) is as follows:
- Students who successfully defend the capstone project and obtain a passing grade in STRAMA before the 30 October deadline for filing graduation clearances, the student shall be allowed to join the graduation ceremonies on 15 December 2024.
- Students who successfully defend the capstone project and obtain a passing grade in STRAMA after 30 October shall still be considered a graduate of 2024 and the date of graduation shall be the same (last day of the third trimester). Diplomas and TORs may be released upon completion of clearance. However, they cannot join the graduation ceremonies on 15 December 2024. They can opt to join the next one.
- Students who were unable to defend their capstone project and/ or did not get a passing grade in STRAMA within the aforementioned completion period are expected to repeat the course to fulfill the requirements for graduation.
