FROM:
(Sgd) Anne Lan K. Candelaria, PhD
Assistant Vice President for Graduate Education
SUBJECT:
Updated Comprehensive Exam Guidelines for Graduate Students
As part of our commitment to continuously review and streamline the various processes in Graduate Education, we are delighted to share with you the updated Comprehensive Examination Guidelines. The revisions were based on valuable input received from stakeholders and updates on our policies.
The updated guidelines reflect the following changes:
- Comprehensive Examination dates are set in the Academic Calendar issued by the Office of the University Registrar. Therefore, our office will no longer release a memo regarding Comprehensive Exam dates.
- Students are no longer required to seek our approval should they wish to defer taking the exam. Deferment requests should be sent to the Department Chair/Program Coordinator concerned at least one week before the scheduled date of the exam. The Office of the University Registrar (registrar@ateneo.edu) and Department/Program Comprehensive Exam Coordinator (CEC) should be copy furnished to the email.
- Results of the Comprehensive Exams will be posted in the student’s AISIS account on the scheduled grade posting of the Office of the University Registrar. Students are advised to contact their home department/program should their grade bear a failing mark for more information and the next steps to proceed.
The contact details of the support offices have also been updated for assistance before, during, and after the comprehensive exams. Students are advised to coordinate with their department/program for department-level comprehensive examination guidelines.
Thank you.
