Data Collection for the 2022 THE Impact Rankings
Ateneo de Manila University participated for the first time in the 2021 THE Impact Rankings.
The results saw Ateneo de Manila University ranked 201-300 in the world – the highest ever for a participating Philippine university since its inception in 2019. This was a validation of our institutional commitment to social transformation. More importantly, however, this provides us with valuable insight into how we can better contribute to social development particularly using the framework of the United Nations Social Development Goals (SDGs). Participation in this world ranking allows us to assess ourselves not only on the basis of our own standards but also considering accepted global standards.
At the end of the day, what is more important than the result of the ranking is what we learn from it. The President’s Council has had a workshop to extract learnings from our participation in the rankings and formulated an agenda for action to improve our social development strategy and programs. The Vice President for Social Development, assisted by many other offices, will be leading the effort to address gaps that are relevant and important to us as a university.
In the meantime, we will continue to participate in the THE Impact Rankings. This is an essential part of our external quality assurance for our social development initiatives. The latest data submission guide has just been released by THE. The Strategy and Quality Management Office (SQMO) will begin the data collection process which will run from 23 August to 15 September 2021 for a 12 November submission. Committees comprising of experts across the university will provide assistance in vetting evidence and producing write-ups to be submitted.
The SQMO Office will be in touch to coordinate data collection throughout the university. I request for your kind cooperation so that we can pull together a submission that is truly reflective of what we do.
Ad majorem Dei gloriam.
