RE:
Typhoon Karding (Noru) Advisory
Typhoon “Karding” continues to intensify as it moves generally westward throughout the forecast period with destructive winds and torrential rainfall. As of this writing, Metro Manila has been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 4. Everyone is reminded again to keep safe whether in their homes or offices. The CFMO and CSMO will designate a skeleton crew of essential personnel to ensure safety, security, and order in all our campuses.
Pre-typhoon preparations:
- Close all windows
- Unplug all electrical appliances except those that are essential (e.g. internet servers, lab testing equipment)
- Secure all physical plant items (both indoor and outdoor) that can be affected by strong winds
- If you have not been able to do any of the above before leaving the campus for the weekend, and have reason to believe that they may pose a safety hazard to the campus and/or our community, please get in touch with CSMO immediately to ask for their assistance
- Employees will be allowed to park their vehicles within the campus for the duration of the typhoon if they feel the need to do so; however, the University will not be held liable for any damage to the vehicles caused by the typhoon
During the typhoon:
- Our Campus Security Detachment (CSD) will monitor and report the conditions on campus to CFMO regularly
- CFMO will deploy a skeleton crew of personnel on campus to monitor electrical lines, generator set operations and the general condition of our physical plant
- For any and all urgent concerns, our CFMO and CSMO teams may be reached through the contact numbers listed below.
- In the event that students and/or employees require refuge from the impact of the typhoon, Ateneo identified appropriate facilities that we can make available for emergency use by our community as temporary evacuation shelters. Any employees and/or students who are in need of such refuge can reach us through the contact numbers listed below. Please note that employees will not be allowed to use their offices as their evacuation sites, and will not be allowed to stay overnight in their offices. They should instead proceed to the designated evacuation facility.
Post typhoon:
- The community is requested to report any and all typhoon damage to CSD, who will forward this to CFMO for appropriate action
Everyone is advised to keep safe and stay home. Avoid going outdoors unless necessary.
For emergencies, CSMO can be contacted at these numbers:
