Letter to Parents of Upperclass Students (OVPLS)
27 Jul 2022 | Office of the Vice President for the Loyola Schools
Dear Parents of Ateneo Upperclass Students,
Thank you for entrusting your son/daughter to Ateneo de Manila University. As your partner in their academic and personal formation, we strive to maintain excellence in the quality of the education we offer.
We are glad to let you know that Ateneo de Manila continues to stay high up in graduate employability rankings (ranked 151-160) according to the latest QS World University Rankings; the only school in the country in the top 200 among four on the list. It is also with pride that we announce Ateneo de Manila’s jumping to the 101-200 bracket (from the 201-300 bracket when we first joined the THE rankings last year) in terms of real world impact based on the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. We are the highest among 15 Philippine institutions included in the rankings, with an overall score of 83.7 out of 100. It is also the highest overall placement of any Philippine institution since the Impact Rankings began.
As we continue to strive for excellence, we face practical matters related to resources as well. And that’s what we would wish to let you know here too. Over the last two years, in consideration of the pandemic situation, we did not raise tuition fees and tightened our belts by shelving salary increases and putting aside projects that we had earlier planned. But this time, we have the need to raise tuition to help us with moving forward too in terms of our operations and other developments.
Like what we have done in the past, we have tried to keep the increase in tuition and fees as minimal as possible, but at a range that allows us to cover increased operational costs, maintain efforts to improve our facilities, keep up with technological innovations, provide scholarships to deserving students, and hire and keep excellent teachers. Enclosed is the schedule of tuition and fees for School Year 2022-2023. The tuition fee reflects an increase of 6%. The tuition fee increase was arrived at after a very careful and detailed budget preparation process that involved all of the academic departments and administrative offices of the Loyola Schools.
Enclosed too is the First Semester Registration Schedule for your information.
We are confident that we can continue to rely on your support and cooperation in our efforts to maintain the quality of education at Ateneo de Manila. Thank you and best wishes.
Sincerely yours,
(Sgd.) Maria Luz C Vilches, PhD
