Cenon Alfonso, MD, FPCS, FPSGS, FRCS (Edin), FPALES, FPAHPBS

Dean

Dr Dodie Alfonso is Professor and Dean of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH). He joined the faculty of the ASMPH in 2010, became a full professor in 2014, and was appointed Associate Dean in 2018.

He is a Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeon and a member of the International Hepatopancreatobiliary Association. He is a Fellow of the Philippine College of Surgeons, Philippine Society of General Surgeons, Philippine Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Philippine Association of   Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Dr. Alfonso was President and CEO of The Medical City (TMC) Clark. He was Director and President of the Philippine Association of Training Officers in Surgery and Chairman of the National Committee for Surgical Training for over 10 years. He currently serves as the head of the Pancreas Cancer Unit and the subsection of Hepatopancreatobiliary in The Medical City hospital. He has headed various units in TMC Pasig as well as serving at the St Martin de Porres Charity Hospital. He has published several research works on the areas of surgery and has received multiple awards and citations from various government and specialty societies.

 

 

Roberto C Tanchanco, MD, FPCP, FPSN, MBA

Associate Dean

Dr Obet Tanchanco is Professor and Associate Dean of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH). He has been with ASMPH since its founding, serving in various academic and administrative capacities. A founding member of the Curriculum Development Team, he was a Year Level Coordinator from 2009 to 2018 and previously served as the Program Director of the MD-MBA program, head of the Faculty Development and Graduation Awards committees, and the Internal Medicine subject expert. 

Dr Tanchanco teaches a wide range of subjects including Physiology, Pharmacology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Ethics, and Principles of Management. As a practicing clinician of Internal Medicine and Nephrology, he brings depth and breadth to both the clinical and academic spheres of the institution. 

He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 1995 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Nephrology at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital. He furthered his subspecialty training with a clinical fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA. In 2013, he earned his Masters in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in education at the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design.

Outside ASMPH, Dr Tanchanco is a practicing nephrologist at The Medical City, where he served as Head of the Section of Nephrology from 2014 to 2019 and as Director of the Kidney Transplant Program from 2008 to 2019. He is a Past President of the Philippine Society of Nephrology from 2017 to 2018 and currently serves as a Regional Board Member of the International Society of Nephrology – Oceania South East Asia Regional Board.

Maria Lourdes M. Almeda-Benito, MBA
Assistant to the Dean

Ms. Maloy Almeda-Benito serves as the Assistant to the Dean of ASMPH and has been with ASMPH since 2007. She is in charge of ensuring that set standards are implemented properly and monitors the delivery of all programs and services initiated by the Dean. She is also a full time faculty of ASMPH.

She is an organizational development consultant and a leadership coach. She has worked with various corporate, government and non-government institutions and assists organizations on Strategic Planning, Leadership Development & Enhancement, Leadership Coaching, Team Building, Organization Development, Human Resources, and Culture Building. She completed her undergraduate degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and obtained her Master in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in 2001.

Rosa Valoree Quiambao, MDM
Assistant to the Associate Dean

Ms. Rosa Quiambao is the Assistant to the Associate Dean of ASMPH. She joined the school in 2008 and assumed her current position in 2012. She assists the Associate Dean in monitoring the curriculum delivery of the MD-MBA program and in the implementation of academic policies and standards. She also serves as faculty of the ASMPH Public Health Cluster.

Prior to joining the ASMPH, she was part of the Leaders for Health Program of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Department of Health and Pfizer Philippines. She also served as a researcher for various consultancy projects on Overseas Development Assistance Projects. She completed her Master in Development Management degree at the Asian Institute of Management in 2014.

Lourdes Bernadette Sumpaico-Tanchanco, MD, MSc, FPPS, FPSDBP
Director, ASMPH Center for Research and Innovation (ACRI)

Dr. Tippy Tanchanco is a Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health and serves as the Director for the Ateneo Center for Research and Innovation. She graduated from the Ateneo de Manila, BS Biology program. She then proceeded to study Medicine at the UERMMMC where she graduated with honors. She took her residency and fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the UP-PGH and completed her Master of Science in Epidemiology (Clinical Epidemiology) at the UP-Manila.

She has been invited to numerous conferences, both locally and internationally, to present her research studies and to speak as an expert in her field. Dr. Tippy is certified in using the Griffith’s Mental Development Scale and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. She is also certified as a Basic DIRFloortime practitioner after completing her training with the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning.

Erlinda Susana S. Cuisia-Cruz, ​MD, FPPS, FPSAMS 
Chair, Year Level 5

Dr Gigi Cuisia-Cruz is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a Pediatrician and an Adolescent Medicine Specialist. She finished her Degree in Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas and took Fellowship training in Adolescent Medicine in Philippine Children’s Medical Center which included an International Fellowship Training in Ambulatory and Adolescent Medicine in Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York.

She is a Fellow of the Philippine Pediatric Society (FPPS) and a Diplomate of the Philippine Society of Adolescent Medicine Specialists(DPSAMS). She was the immediate Past President of the Society of Adolescent Medicine of the Philippines (SAMPI) and is the Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine of Philippine Children’s Medical Center. Internationally, she is a member of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) and the recipient of SAHM Annual Meeting International Travel Scholarship in 2018.

Angel Belle C. Dy, MD, MBA
Assistant Chair, Year Level 5

Dr Angel Belle Dy is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a general practitioner and an early childhood development advocate. She is a graduate of the ASMPH MD-MBA program and completed post-graduate studies from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the UC Davis MIND Institute.  She also serves as vice-chair of the ASMPH research ethics committee and co-project leader of the Ateneo Autism Study Group. Outside of the academe, she is a certified trainer under Zero to Three for the Growing Brain curriculum. Her professional credentials include being a trained DIR Professional under the International Council for Development and Learning and a Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics practitioner, completing phase I training with the Child Trauma Academy. 

She has several published academic journal articles and writes neuroscience and research-informed parenting materials.

Marie Giselle Katherine A. Franco, MD, DPBO
Chair, Year Level 6

Dr Giselle Franco is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. 

Dr Franco is a practicing ophthalmologist. She is a graduate of the 7-year Integrated Arts and Medicine (INTARMED) program of the UP College of Medicine. She underwent residency training in Ophthalmology at the Philippine General Hospital and became a diplomate of the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology. She is presently a consultant at the Lasik Surgery Clinic.

Maria Cristina L. Macabulos, MD, DPASMAP 
Assistant Chair, Year Level 6

Dr Tina Macabulos is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She is the Microbiology Subject Expert of ASMPH and serves as the Year Level 6 Module Coordinator for Microbiology Laboratory, the Nutrition Submodule and the Infectious Disease Submodule. 

She graduated from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center and is currently taking up her Master of Science in Microbiology at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is a diplomate of the Philippine Academic Society for Microbiology and Parasitology.

Jose Jonathan C. Franco, MD, FPSOHNS
Chair, Year Level 7

Dr Bong Franco is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. 

Dr. Franco is a practicing otorhinolaryngologist - head and neck surgeon. He is a graduate of the 7-year Integrated Arts and Medicine (INTARMED) program of the UP College of Medicine. He finished his training in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Philippine General Hospital and became a fellow of the Philippine Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Philippine College of Surgeons.

He is a consultant at the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery of the Rizal Medical Center and was chair of the department from 2007 - 2012. He is currently the Chief of the Section of Head and Neck Surgery of the department. He is an Associate Board Examiner of the Philippine Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Visiting Consultant at The Medical City.

Maria Christina Kristin S. Reyes, MD, MSCN, DPBCN
Assistant Chair, Year Level 7

Dr Tin Reyes received her Doctor of Medicine from the UERMMMC. She finished her fellowship training on Clinical Nutrition at St. Luke’s Medical Center, acquired a degree on Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition at the Philippine Women’s University and did observation training for Clinical Nutrition at Erasme Hospital in Brussels, Belgium. She is a training officer of the Adult Medical Nutrition Fellowship of the Medical City and is a certified instructor of Life Long Learning (LLL) nutrition modules of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN).

Michelle Joy B. De Vera, MD, FAAAAI, FPSAAI
Chair, Year Level 8

Dr Chelle de Vera is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She is an allergologist and immunologist specialist. Dr. de Vera is a consultant at The Medical City Hospital where she is a member of both the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine. She is the Associate Director of the Institute of Personalized Molecular Medicine, and the Head of the Section of Allergy/Immunology of the Department of Medicine at TMC.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy/ Immunology (conjoint board of the American Boards of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine), and the Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She has published book chapters, articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed international journals and served as primary and sub-investigator for a number of research clinical trials.

Princess C. Dollaga, MD, FPSOHNS
Assistant Chair, Year Level 8

Dr Ces Carlos-Dollaga is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine & Public Health. She is Clinical Faculty and has served as Assistant Coordinator for the ASMPH Clerkship (Year Level 8) program since 2011.

She finished her residency training at The Medical City Department of ENT-Head & Neck Surgery where she served as Chief Resident from 2002 to 2003. She was conferred the title of Diplomate in 2004 and fellow of the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery in 2007. She is an ENT-HNS consultant in ARDI Clinic Pasig and at The Medical City where she served as Residency Training Officer from 2011 to 2012.

Reza Maria K Sales, MD, FPCR, FUSP, DBISP
Chair, Year Level 9

Dr Reza Koa-Sales is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 1996 and finished residency training in 2001. 

She completed her fellowship in CT MRI and US Imaging in 2002. She is currently a radiology consultant in The Medical City and Makati Medical Center.

BALUYOT
Gabriel C Baluyut, MD, MBA, FPOA
Assistant Chair, Year Level 9

Dr Gabe Baluyut is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. He graduated from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health in 2013 and finished Orthopedic Surgery Residency Training at The Medical City (TMC) Ortigas in 2020. 

He is a Philippine Orthopaedic Association Fellow and is a member of the training and research committees of TMC. He is also a Physician-Scientist specializing in medical and orthopedic applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Czarina Teresa B Teves
Chair, Leadership Formation Cluster

Czarina Teresa B Teves, also known as Coach Ina, is Chair of the Leadership Formation Cluster at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She brings over 30 years of experience as a coach, organization development consultant, and curriculum designer. She facilitated leadership retreats, coached executives and teams, and led program development for both private sector clients and public institutions such as the Department of Education, Department of Health, and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

As faculty and resource person at the Ateneo Center for Continuing Education and the Asian Institute of Management, she delivers programs on emotional intelligence, systems thinking, coaching, and leading change. Coach Ina held leadership roles in the International Coaching Federation-Philippines, helping keep the community together during the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath.

She is a Certified Jungian Coach, Action Learning Coach, Stakeholder Centered Executive Coach, and Master Facilitator in Team Psychological Safety. She co-founded InnerWorks Coaching PH, helping leaders align inner purpose with outer work through systemic and somatic coaching. Earlier in her career, she worked in journalism, advertising, and corporate communication.

Limuel Anthony B Abrogena, MD, FPAFP
Chair, Public Health Cluster

Dr Lims Abrogena is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. He is a Family Medicine specialist and currently serves as a member of the National Board of Directors of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians. Dr Lims is currently the Chairperson of the Committees on Basic Medical Education, and Informatics and Publicity. He is also an active member of the Committee on Continuing Professional Development of PAFP.

Dr Abrogena serves as Regional Director for Luzon of the Dementia Society of the Philippines. He finished his residency training in Family and Community Medicine at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital and is also affiliated with the UP-Philippine General Hospital and the AMOSUP Seamen’s Hospital.

Dr Cherry Bernardo-Lazaro is the MD-MBA Program Director of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 2000, completed her residency training in Family and Community Medicine at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital in 2006, and obtained her MBA in Health from the Ateneo Graduate School of Busiess in 2015, graduating as one of the gold medalists in her batch. 

At ASMPH. she has been a faculty member since 2009 and currently serves as course coordinator for Learning Experiences in the Communities and Research Methods and Translation and Public Health. She is the Chairman of the Board and Past President of the Philippine Academic Society of Social and Community Medicine (PASCOM), and has held leadership roles in both hospital and community-based health programs. Her work reflects a commitment to forming physician-leaders equipped to navigate both clinical and organizational challenges in healthcare.

Dr Aileen Pascual is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. She is the Coordinator for Student Affairs of ASMPH and is a Family Medicine practitioner.

Mr. Reyes was Registrar and Student Services Director at the Asian Institute of Management from January 3, 2007 to August 14, 2018 and Registrar at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran from April 2000 to December 31, 2006.  He is part of a team that teaches Fundamentals of Registrarship at the Ateneo’s Department of Education.

Rey graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Political Science and has a Master in Business Administration from the University of Santo Tomas.

Marites Lucas-Balamban graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication at the University of the East. In March 2007, she pursued her career at Malayan Colleges Laguna (subsidiary of MAPUA University) as an Assistant Registrar. Apart from being an Assistant Registrar, she was also appointed to be a Liaison Officer for TESDA, CHED, DEPED, and BI related matters. She was also a School Registrar at Far Eastern University-Institute of Technology (Alabang) before joining ASMPH.

Librarian

Mrs. Joenabie Encanto Arevalo is the librarian of the Ateneo de Manila University - School of Medicine and Public Health. She also teaches medical and health librarianship electives in the graduate level at the UP School of Library and Information Studies, where she also obtained her bachelor’s degree, cum laude (2004) and a master’s degree (2011) in Library and Information Science. She got her license in 2004 and ranked 5th in the licensure examination for librarians conducted by the Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians and by the Professional Regulation Commission.

She served as MAHLAP President from 2014 to 2016, member of the MAHLAP Board of Trustees since 2008 and Adviser to the MAHLAP Board of Trustees from 2020-2021. She serves as secretary of the Jesuit Higher Education Library Consortium (JHELCon) from 2017 to present. 

She contributed research papers in refereed journals and delivered paper presentations and chaired/co-chaired several technical sessions in both national and international conferences. Through MAHLAP, she helped organized various seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Dr Jhason Cabigon is an Associate Professor at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. He is the Coordinator of the ASMPH Health Service Office as well as the Director of the Ateneo Professional Schools Office of Health Services. He is a Fellow of the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine and a member of the Research Committee. He is also a Fellow of the Philippine Academic Society for Microbiology and Parasitology and currently the President of the society. As an academician, he teaches Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and Pharmacology to both medicine and pre-medicine students. 

 

Dr. Cabigon has published 2 books entitled “Pharmacology, the Practice of Nursing Process” and “Pharmacology Essentials: A Practical Approach” and research papers in both local and international peer-reviewed journals.
