City Resilience Toolkit (CResT)

Climate and Disaster Resilience

The CDR Program presents activities in this book that were designed using systems thinking frameworks or adapted/enhanced from existing activities to better suit the purpose of applying systems thinking in resilience planning over three phases: Problem Diagnosis, Stakeholder Engagement, and Action Planning.

Resilience planning workshops using systems thinking have been carried out by the CDR program with activities from the CResT manual, involving colleagues and participants from various sectors. These workshops aim to deepen understanding and appreciation for enhancing resilience by uncovering feedback and hidden structures that may affect resilience issues, fostering dialogue, and helping articulate coherent storylines to achieve intended futures.

The initiative was carried out under the Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines: Investing in Climate and Resilience (CCARPH) Project, which was funded by a grant from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, and implemented by the Ateneo de Manila University, in collaboration with the Manila Observatory (MO), Ateneo Innovation Center (AIC), and the National Resilience Council (NRC).
