I. Brief Description
The Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) is the public sector arm of Ateneo de Manila University. The School’s long-term mission is to teach and work with effective and ethical public servants. It aims to contribute in building prosperous, sustainable, just, and happy communities in the Philippines, empowered by democratic, participatory, transparent, and accountable governance institutions and processes.
As a graduate school for leadership and public service, ASOG's academic and executive education programs bridge the gap between classroom wisdom and real-world policy decision-making and governance. Through its research and extension programs, and its work with public, private, and community organizations, ASOG continues to develop and foster innovative ideas and approaches in areas such as leadership, poverty eradication, climate change, social accountability, and politics.
The Strategic Religious Engagement (SRE) project is an initiative designed to foster dialogue and collaboration between diverse religious communities and stakeholders in governance, peacebuilding, and development. By promoting mutual understanding and strategic partnerships, the project aims to address critical societal challenges through the lens of faith and inclusivity. The Research Coordinator plays a vital role in this initiative, ensuring the production of high-quality research outputs, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and organizing events that align with the project's goals. This role also involves managing data and networks to support evidence-based strategies and fostering a collaborative environment that bridges academic insights with practical applications for impactful governance and social transformation.
II. Scope of Work
The Research Coordinator is expected to:
- Stakeholder Engagement and Networking. Facilitate collaboration among faith-based organizations (FBOs) to build strong partnerships and work toward mutually beneficial goals that align with the objectives of the SRE project.
- Network Organization and Coordination. Plan, design, and oversee administrative and logistical arrangements for conferences, seminars, and dialogues that foster collaboration among the FBO consortium.
- Research Development and Outputs. Coordinate desk reviews, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and analyses that contribute to working papers, briefing notes, and other research outputs focused on SRE
- Knowledge Sharing and Communication. Translate research findings into accessible formats disseminated to the FBO network, policymakers, and private sectors actors.
- Reporting and Documentation. Prepare accurate and timely reports including administrative, financial, and narrative documentation required for project implementation and monitoring.
- Others. Perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Dean, the Ateneo Policy Center Head and his/her authorized representative similar to, and related to the functions enumerated above
III. Qualifications
Applicants for the Research Coordinator position must have the following qualifications:
- Undergraduate university degree in religious studies, economics, public policy and/or international development policy;
- Thematic familiarity with development studies, religious studies, public finance, governance and institutions, and/or political economy;
- Demonstrated experience managing consortiums, particularly with FBOs, is an advantage;
- Project management experience is an advantage;
- Can efficiently handle and deliver outputs with minimal supervision;
- Has excellent written and interpersonal communication skills in English, and excellent interpersonal communications skills in Filipino; and
- Has excellent organizational skills and is able to contribute to team research processes.
