Lingad & Mallari are Am-Am Champs of Xavier Debate; Lingad is Am-Am Finals Best Speaker

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS) debaters brought home remarkable honors from the 2024 Xavier School Debate Championship (XSDC), held from 30 November to 1 December 2024 at Xavier School San Juan. 

The ASHS contingent’s impressive performance was highlighted by several key achievements:

The team of Ernrich Lingad II (11-Borja) and Daniel Mallari (12-Pro) emerged as Am-Am Champions after breaking 2nd place in the Am-Am category. 

In the Open Category, the team of Julianne Rabago (12-Daniel) and Renzu Santos (12-Gonzales) broke 12th and advanced all the way to the Open Grand Finals.

Individually, Axel Trojillo (12-Evans) was awarded as Overall Best Am-Am Speaker and 5th Best Open Speaker. Sam Dionisio (11-Borja) was recognized as the 3rd Best Open School Speaker, Daniel Mallari earned the title of 3rd Best Am-Am Speaker, and Ernrich Lingad II earned the title of Am-Am Finals Best Speaker. Last but not least, Leah Joy Rivera (12-Beyzym) was named 2nd Best Judge.  

The 2024 XSDC provided an exciting opportunity for budding debaters to compete in a supportive, yet highly challenging British Parliamentary debate. Despite being a novice-focused tournament, the event attracted over 125 debaters and 45 adjudicators from top debate institutions.
