07 Mar 2025
The Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT), the outreach center of the Department of English, School of Humanities, organized several initiatives in 2024 with the aim to support English language teachers and upgrade English language and literature education in multilingual settings.
PRC-Accredited Workshops
In 2024, ACELT offered workshops accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). These include short training programs to help teachers promote critical pedagogy in the language classroom such as “Teaching Journalism with a Critical Eye: Strategies for Promoting Analytical Thinking,” “Promoting Critical Language Awareness in Teaching Writing,” and “Close Reading: Unraveling the Text.”
There were also learning sessions to help teachers transition to the MATATAG Curriculum like “Understanding the Context of ELT in the MATATAG Curriculum” and “Using Pedagogical Translanguaging: Responding to the Challenge of the MATATAG Curriculum.”
