AHS’84 signs memorandum of agreement with Ateneo de Manila University to sponsor Ateneo Junior High School scholar

AHS’84 signs a Memorandum of Agreement with Ateneo de Manila University to sponsor an Ateneo Junior High School scholar

Last February 10, 2025, Ateneo HS '84 Class 4A and the Ateneo de Manila University held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing to formalize their endowment grant of at least PHP 8 million to support scholars in the Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS).

Jonjee Sumpaico, SJ, AJHS Principal Ms. Gen Sanvictores, ASHS Principal Ms. Rosanna Borja, and OUDAA Director Fr. Norberto Bautista, SJ. — AHS ’84 Class 4A representatives, with University President Fr Roberto Yap SJ; VP for Basic Education Fr Jonjee Sumpaico SJ; Province Commission on Ministries Chair Fr Roberto Rivera SJ; AJHS Principal Ms Gen Sanvictores; ASHS Principal Ms Rosanna Borja; and OUDAA Director Fr Norberto Bautista SJ.

In attendance were the University President Fr. Roberto Yap, SJ, Vice President for Basic Education (VPBE) Fr. Jonjee Sumpaico, SJ, Office of University Development & Alumni Affairs Director Fr. Norberto Bautista, SJ, AJHS Principal Ms. Gen Sanvictores, Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) Principal Ms. Sansan Borja, OUDAA Donor Relations Head Ms. Jeng Manglallan, AJHS Office of Admission and Scholarships Coordinator Ms. Osang Maglalang, AHS '84 4A scholarship steering committee members Mr. Arnie San Gabriel, Atty. Mark Vergara, Mr. Glenn San Luis, and Dr. Alvin Marcelo. Present also were Mr. Robbie Bonoan, Mr. Butch Tansengco, Dr. Ali Bengzon, and Fr. Robert Rivera, SJ from the class of 4A AHS’84.

After a screening and interview process with the 4A AHS ‘84 class representatives, Aian Dorothy Andres was selected from three candidates forwarded by the AJHS Office of Admission and Scholarships. Hailing from Parang Elementary School, Marikina, her scholarship will cover tuition and fees, uniform, and book expenses. She is also among the first batch of female students in the AJHS.

Inspired to support a scholar by the late Tulong Dunong founder and their former class moderator, Fr. James "Fr. OB" O'Brien SJ, the alumni were glad to be able to "pay it forward" and present the scholarship endowment fund named “4A84/3A83 Fr. J. O’Brien High School Scholarship Fund” to Fr. President, the VP for Basic Education, the Director of Alumni Affairs, and the Principals of JHS and SHS. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
