Bernas Institute hosts Mandatory Continuing Legal Education lecture

On 28 February 2025, the Fr Joaquin G Bernas SJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law held a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Lecture Series. This event, accredited by the Supreme Court of the Philippines, brought together esteemed legal experts to discuss emerging legal issues.
- Cybercrime Law Related to Banking – Atty Elmore O Capule, Deputy Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, explored the evolving challenges of cybercrime in the banking sector.
- Amendments to the Rules of Evidence – Atty Axel Rupert M Cruz, Director of Ateneo Legal Services, provided insights into recent changes in evidentiary rules and their impact on legal practice.
- Online & Traditional Media: Ethical Nuances under the Code of Professional Responsibility & Accountability – Atty Eugenio H Villareal, a faculty member of Ateneo Law School, examined ethical considerations for legal practitioners in the digital age.
- Updates on Data Privacy Law & Regulations – Atty Felicisimo F Agas III, a faculty member of Ateneo Law School, discussed the latest developments in data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Climate Change & Climate Litigation in the Philippines – Atty Gregorio Rafael P Bueta, also from Ateneo Law School delved into the legal implications of climate change and ongoing climate litigation in the country.
With technological advancements, ethical concerns in media, and environmental issues shaping legal practice, the MCLE Lecture Series aimed to equip legal professionals with updated knowledge and insights.
