26 Feb 2025
The Social and Environmental Engagement for Development and Sustainability (SEEDS) subcluster of the Mission Integration cluster held its first Town Hall on Friday, 21 February 2025. During the Town Hall meeting, the team from the Ateneo Institute for Sustainability led by its director, Dr Emmanuel Delocado, presented the proposed Sustainable University Master Plan.
The Sustainable University Master Plan defines what it means to be a sustainable university (and a Laudato si’ University) and sets 22 envisioned end states and 53 short-term, medium, and long term targets. The proposal also contains seven guiding principles.
Consultations regarding the Sustainable University Master Plan have already been conducted with various implementing offices across the university and the next stage involves broader consultations with various sectors. Consultations are already scheduled with the President’s Council, the Higher Education Vice President’s Council, the Higher Education School Forum, and the other subclusters of the Mission Integration Cluster. Consultations are being worked out for Basic Education and will be worked out with Central Administration units and alumni.
The target date for completion of the Sustainable University Master Plan is May 2025.
The SEEDS subcluster is composed of the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Social and Environmental Engagement for Development and Sustainability, the Ateneo Center for Educational Development, the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, Gawad Kalinga Ateneo, the Office for Social Concern and Involvement, and the Service Learning team. The subcluster also coordinates with various offices such as the Social Involvement Office of the Ateneo Grade School, the Christian and Involvement Programs of the Ateneo Junior High School and the Ateneo Senior High School, Tulong Dunong, the Ateneo Human Rights Center of the Ateneo Law School and many other offices across the university.
