Salamat sa Tumutulong: A student-organized fiesta to celebrate Ateneo College's non-teaching heroes
04 Dec 2024 | Gavril Juico & Marc Belando
With the semester nearing its end, the Department of Student Welfare and Services (DSWS) readies itself for its annual flagship project, Salamat sa Tumutulong, commencing this 9th of December with the theme "Kita Kita: Halina sa Pista."
Salamat sa Tumutulong (SST) is a thanksgiving event that takes place every December during the season of joy. It aims to put the spotlight on the non-teaching personnel (NTPs) from the various offices and businesses within Ateneo de Manila University to highlight camaraderie and passion for service among the stakeholders of Ateneo de Manila University. During SST, a program and dinner is prepared for the NTPs, featuring games, gift packs and prizes, as well as entertainment and performances from other collaborating student organizations.
One of the fundraising traditions for SST is the Bottle Drive, wherein the organization members call in for cash or online donations and spread the word on the event. Apart from this, a bigger, week-long fundraising event is held during the second semester. It takes place after the thanksgiving event, with partnerships and sponsors from different concessionaires.
The online Bottle Drive will remain open year-round, even after the thanksgiving proper. Anyone who wishes to support the cause can donate any amount that they wish to give, and all the proceeds will be used for the operational costs Salamat sa Tumutulong and direct donations towards NTPs that would not be able to attend the event.
