AJHS holds solemn Living Rosary prayer service
12 Nov 2024
In the morning of 6 November 2024, the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School community gathered in the Covered Courts for its annual Living Rosary ritual, a special tradition that is observed in many Jesuit schools during the Marian month of October. Originally scheduled for 23 October, the AJHS Living Rosary was rescheduled because classes were suspended on that day due to inclement weather.

During the solemn prayer service, administrators read the Gospel passages pertaining to the Glorious Mysteries while students and faculty, staff and parent representatives served as living rosary beads and recited the “Hail Mary” and other prayers one at a time.
In his sharing, AJHS Chaplain Fr Mamert Mañus SJ reminded the community that the rosary is a prayer devotion that effectively and economically summarizes Jesus’ life and ministry. “(The rosary) is the Gospel on a string of beads,” he emphasized.
He concluded by reminding all that the rosary is a simple but very effective way to keep its owner closer to Jesus Christ and His mother, Mary. Paraphrasing Fr Jojo Magadia SJ, Fr Mamert explained, “In the end, the rosary is yours so that you may always turn to God, the true power, the one who can bring you - not luck as many ordinarily understand it – but a good and meaningful life.”
