Members of ASHS community attend two-day Basic Life Support training
31 Oct 2024
To strengthen community resilience and enhance emergency preparedness & response capability, the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School's office of the Asst. Principal for Administration (APAdmin) partnered with the Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) to facilitate a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training on 28 & 29 October 2024. Among the attendees were members of the ASHS Local Unit Emergency Response Team (LUERT), CSIP and TD teachers (who usually conduct classes outside campus), and coaches.
The initiative underscores the importance of equipping individuals in key community roles with essential life-saving skills. From the facilitators, participants learned the techniques for performing CPR on adults, children and infants, and the urgency of timely intervention. The training also discussed methods for assisting those who are choking, and aiding those who are dealing with specific body injuries.
Because a significant amount of time was devoted to hands-on practice, the BLS training not only ensured the attendees’ readiness in dealing properly with real-life emergencies, but also increased the number of trained individuals in the ASHS who can serve as first responders during urgent situations.
