Kape’t Guro teams up with GBSEALD to host “Kita Kita!”

Kape’t Guro and the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD) hosted “Kita Kita!”, a kumustahan session for teachers, on August 31, 2024 at the JJ Atencio Lighthouse for New Learning in Areté. Teachers from all over Luzon came together to form meaningful connections over a cup of coffee.
Now in its 10th year, Kape’t Guro is a community of teachers headed by Ms Sabrina Ongkiko. Often cited as a “transformative teacher”, Teacher Sab is widely recognized for her tireless dedication to enhancing the quality of education in the country.
Kape’t Guro seeks to uplift teachers by drawing strength and inspiration from one another’s stories. The community proved essential during the pandemic when teachers struggled to find support. It continues to remain relevant today leading to this first onsite session since the pandemic.
“Kita Kita!” aimed to provide teachers with a safe space to reflect on their experiences and recharge them for the coming days. The title is a play on kita-kita (a meeting) and kita kita (I see you), which guided the theme of the session. With the help of activities, snacks, coffee, and tea, the teachers met at a space where they felt seen and heard by their peers. At the end of the session, they brought home with them shared memories and new friendships.
Another onsite Kape't Guro session is being planned for September 28, as well as an online re-run of “Kita Kita!” sometime in October. For updates on upcoming sessions, follow the Kape't Guro Community on Facebook: facebook.com/Kapetgurocommunity.
