The School of Humanities and School of Social Sciences are pleased to announce the upcoming academic conference “Contacts and Continuities II,” taking place from 9 September to 4 October 2024. This event aims to foster scholarly discussions around the historical and contemporary relationships between the Philippines and the United States, providing a platform for researchers and academics to share insights and engage in meaningful dialogue.
The conference will feature a variety of themes, including the impact of American education on Philippine identity, the environmental perceptions during the colonial period, health and nutrition issues in the early American era, and various cultural expressions that have emerged from US-Philippine interactions. Participants can look forward to keynote addresses and panel discussions led by distinguished scholars, addressing topics such as the role of literature in shaping cultural consciousness and the long-lasting effects of American colonial education.
