Celebrating excellence: Prof Heidi Mendoza receives 2024 Outstanding Professional in Accountancy award

We are delighted to announce that Heidi Mendoza, Professor of Praxis at the Ateneo School of Government, has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Outstanding Professional in Accountancy award by the Professional Regulation Commission. This award recognizes her exceptional contributions to the field of accountancy and her unwavering commitment to advancing the profession in the Philippines.

Prof. Mendoza's work has significantly deepened the accounting profession in the country through her extensive research, innovative teaching methods, and active engagement with both academic and professional communities. Her dedication to excellence and integrity has not only inspired her students but also set a benchmark for accounting professionals nationwide.

At the Ateneo School of Government, Prof Mendoza has been instrumental in teaching our public financial management courses and mentoring our students in the analysis of budget and financial accounting issues in the national and local governments. 

Prof Mendoza was the former Undersecretary General for the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight. She was also a commissioner and officer-in-charge of the Commission on Audit of the Philippines from 2011 to 2015. Prof. Mendoza has also served as an external auditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization and International Labour Organization. She recently served as Dean of the College of Management and Accountancy at the Union College of Laguna and the Rizal College of Laguna.

The awarding ceremony took place last 2 August 2024, at the Forbes Ballroom of Conrad Manila, Pasay City. Congratulations Prof. Heidi!
