ASoG hosts roundtable discussion on low-carbon energy transition programs for LGUs with Tara Climate Foundation and other government agencies
20 Jun 2024
The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), through its Executive Education Program, conducted an in-person Roundtable Discussion (RTD) to kickoff its partnership project with Tara Climate Foundation on Just Energy Transition held on 21 May 2024. Representatives from various government and non-government organizations were invited from key stakeholders such as the Department of Energy, Department of Interior and Local Government, OceanPixel and Miriam College. Mr Elmar Benjie Panahon, Senior Programme Officer of Tara Climate Foundation, was also present during the RTD. The project aims to provide capacity building to Local Government Units on Just Energy Transition.

The RTD, facilitated by Dr Lloydon Bautista, Lead Person of the project, gathered participants’ inputs to help shape the training content, delivery and implementation strategies. The participants emphasized the importance of understanding the requirements and mandates of RA 11285, as well as the modules to be included in the training. They also discussed the mode of instruction for the training, raising potential issues with online instructions that could affect the learning outcomes.

ASoG Dean Philip Arnold P Tuaño, Senior Research Fellow Dr Josef Yap, and ASoG Faculty Mr Reginald Rex Barrer were also present during the RTD to share their insights on how the project would be implemented.

We are excited to announce that the Just Energy Transition courses will be offered to Local Government Units in the last quarter of this year. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate. Stay tuned for more detailed updates in the coming months.
