The Philippine MICROCASA team, comprising the UP Open University (UPOU), University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), and Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo), concluded a two-day write shop at the Sandbox, UPOU Headquarters. This event aimed to revise the Digital Workplace Competency Training (DWCT) Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), which ran from 6 March to 14 May 2024.
The team was led by distinguished academia and digital transformation experts, including Dr Joane Serrano (Dean of the UPOU Faculty of Management & Development Studies), Asst Prof Peter Sy (AVP for Digital Transformation of the UP System), Dr Dennis Batangan, research scientist of the Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC)- Ateneo School of Social Sciences and member of the faculty of the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), Dr Marita Concepcion Castro Guevara, Associate Professor of Sociology-Ateneo School of Social Sciences, Mr Jacob Carpio of IPC Ateneo SOSS and the following UP OU FMDS staff: Ms Sydney Rovin Macahiya, Ms Janelle Ebron, Ms Dina Mae Rejano, and Ms Katheryn Hidalgo.
The primary objective of this write shop was to review and enhance the DWCT course meticulously. The revised course, proposed to be titled Navigating Essential eXpertise in Technology (NEXT), will form a critical component of the Digital Transformation (DigiT) micro-diploma. NEXT aims to align with the EU DigComp 2.2 Framework, ensuring learners acquire the most relevant and up-to-date digital skills.
By bringing together experts from different institutions and fields, the MICROCASA team aimed to deliver a high-quality educational resource that would benefit learners across the Philippines and beyond.
