Vitug & Ang are Open Champs of Indo-Pacific British Parliamentary Debate; Ang is Overall Best HS Speaker

Representing the Philippines, the team consisting of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School student Jasmin Ang (12-Ogilvie) and Ateneo de Manila alumnus Mikko Vitug (ASHS '18, BSM AMF '23) emerged as the Open Champion of the Indo-Pacific British Parliamentary Open 2024, besting 64 other teams from across Asia. Individually, Ang was also recognized as the debate’s Overall Best High School Speaker and 3rd Best Open Speaker.

The Indo-Pacific British Parliamentary Open 2024 was held online via Zoom and Discord on 23-24 March 2024. Hosted by Debate India Initiative, it is a large open debate tournament that attracts the best high school and collegiate debaters from all over Asia.

Jasmin Ang graduated from the ASHS on 30 May 2024, with a string of debate championships and Best Speaker awards under her belt. Last 28 January, for instance, she was named Overall Best Speaker in the Oxford Schools Hong Kong Regionals 2024.  

Mikko Vitug is also an exceptional, multi-awarded debater. In 2023, for instance, he and his teammates from Ateneo College were crowned Asian Grand Champions of the Malaysian United Asian Debating Championship, where he also received the awards for Best Overall Speaker and Finals Best Speaker.
