03 Jun 2024
Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School debaters Jasmin Ang (12-Ogilvie) & Sam Tango (12-Walpole) emerged as Grand Finalists of the Oxford Schools Hong Kong Regionals 2024, which were held online via Zoom on 27-28 January 2024. Individually, Jasmin and Sam were also both named Overall Best Speakers.

Their outstanding performance in the Regionals earned them a slot in Oxford Schools Finals Day, which was held at Cherwell College in Oxford University, United Kingdom on 9 March 2024. Jasmin & Sam are only the third ASHS team/pair to represent the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila in this prestigious event. The first two teams to achieve this amazing feat were ASHS alumni Daniella Barbacena (Batch 2023) & Kiel Mirandilla (Batch 2024), and Alshana Almeda (Batch 2024) & Sean Cuevas (Batch 2024). These two pioneering teams represented Ateneo de Manila and the Philippines in Oxford Schools Finals Day on 11 March 2023. Oxford Schools Finals Day is the largest British Parliamentary school-level debate competition in the world for students aged 14-18.
Hosted by See Change Education, the Oxford Schools Hong Kong Regionals attracted twenty-five teams from Southeast Asia.
Sam Tango and Jasmin Ang both graduated from ASHS on 30 May 2024 as winners of multiple debate championships and multiple best speaker awards.
