Minors and Specializations awarding ceremony celebrates student achievements

The Ateneo de Manila University Department of Economics celebrated the outstanding achievements of its students at the Minors and Specializations Awarding Ceremony, held on 30 May 2024, at Faber Hall 101. The event recognized the dedication and hard work of students who successfully completed their minors and specializations in various fields of study.
The ceremony began with an opening prayer and the Philippine National Anthem, setting a respectful and celebratory tone for the event. A highlight of the program was a special congratulatory video message from Dr. Czarina “Bopeep” Saloma-Akpedonu, who praised the students for their perseverance and success.
The heart of the ceremony was the announcement of the graduates. This year, 46 students were awarded the Specialization in Financial Economics, 4 students completed the Minor in Financial Economics, and 21 students graduated with a Minor in Economics. Each name was called, and the students were applauded for their academic accomplishments.
Faculty members also delivered heartfelt congratulatory messages, expressing their pride in the students’ achievements and wishing them continued success in their future endeavors.
Following the announcements, a group picture was taken to commemorate the occasion, and attendees joined together to sing the Song for Mary, fostering a sense of community and shared accomplishment.
Dr. Alvin Ang provided inspiring closing remarks, highlighting the significance of the students' hard work and the bright futures that lie ahead of them. He encouraged the graduates to continue striving for excellence and to use their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in the world.
The ceremony concluded with a simple reception, allowing graduates, faculty, and guests to celebrate together and enjoy refreshments.
