Ateneo BS ME Batch '77 donates bicycle racks to AJHS
27 May 2024
Representatives of Ateneo de Manila University’s BS Management Engineering Class of 1977 donated eight pieces of four-loop inverted-u bicycle racks to the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School on 15 April 2024. The racks were then blessed on the morning of 23 May 2024 in the area outside the AJHS Cafeteria where the racks were placed. The rite was led by AJHS Chaplain Fr Mamert Mañus SJ, after which a simple handover program followed in the AJHS Global Classroom.
Present were parents, students, faculty, and administrators of the AJHS, including Genalyn "Gen" Sanvictores (Principal), Bernie Santos (Student Activities Coordinator), Dingdong Guerrero (Assistant Principal for Administration), Tyler Boone (Campus Ministry), TJ Sunga (Campus Ministry), and Cycling Org moderators Carlo Carlon, Mark Catarroja and Ricky Peneyra. Fr Kit Bautista SJ, director of Ateneo de Manila’s Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs, was also present. Batch 77 was represented by Dr Robert Siy, Raul Montemayor, Carlos Tria, and Benel Lagua.
At the simple handover ceremony immediately following the blessing, AJHS Principal Gen Sanvictores thanked BS ME Batch '77 profusely for its generosity. "Your donation could not have come at a better time because we are really doubling our efforts to promote sustainability and to contribute to the greater good...to make Ateneo a Laudato si' campus," she shared.
Mrs Sanvictores added, "Through your donation, I hope we will be able to inspire more students and more stakeholders to take on a more active lifestyle and in turn, be more healthy and develop their overall well-being."
The racks–which can hold up to 64 bicycles–will be used by students of AJHS’ Cycling Org and any member of the AJHS community who brings a bicycle to the AJHS.
BS M.E. Batch '77 previously donated bicycle racks to the Ateneo Senior High School on 13 February 2023 and to Ateneo College on 17 February 2023.
