Outstanding scholarship by Ateneo faculty recognized at 23rd University Scholarly Work Awards

On 22 May 2024, outstanding scholarship and research across different fields of study were recognized at the 23rd University Scholarly Work Awards, an annual ceremony that celebrates the “exceptional academic achievements and innovative research contributions of members of the Ateneo de Manila University community.” Held at the Loft in Areté, the ceremony honored the best research work of the past year, from all 9 schools of Higher Education.
Dr Maria Luz C Vilches, Vice President for Higher Education, welcomed faculty, students, and researchers that afternoon: “We have such a rich harvest,” she began. “The ceremonies at this event indicate our recognition of the fruits of intellectual curiosity, pursued with scholarly rigor and passion for new knowledge that address important societal issues facing us today.”
“The works that we honor also testify to the boundless creativity of the human spirit in finding connections between and among fields of interests to be able to shed light about life and its limitless encounters,” she added.
Aside from individual research and faculty recognition, specific outstanding scholarly work across the nine schools were also honored. Special commendations were also given to works in sustainability and work with most social impact, as well as most downloaded scholarly work in Archīum, highest field-weighted citation impact, highest number of Category A publications, and more.

Fr Roberto C Yap SJ delivered the closing remarks. “Today we gather we deep gratitude and immense pride to honor the scholarly works of our esteemed faculty, fellows, and research staff and students,” he said. “Each of you, with your distinct talents and expertise, has left an indelible mark on our institution and the communities beyond. Your work, which we not only acknowledge, but cherish, serves as a beacon of inspiration for us all, urging us to continue striving for excellence and service.”
