Ateneo continues run as top PH institution in 2024 THE Asia Rankings
01 May 2024
Ateneo de Manila continues to be ranked among the top universities in Asia in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Rankings released on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.
Ateneo was ranked in the 401-500 bracket for the 2024 table, slipping from 84th the previous year. Despite this, Ateneo is still the highest-ranked institution from the Philippines.
Similar to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the Asia University Rankings also judge “research-intensive universities” across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
"The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2024 use the same 18 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions," THE said.
THE also noted that this year the methodology for ranking institutions "has been significantly updated" since the start of the World Rankings two decades prior.
This is the second appearance of Ateneo in the annual rankings of Asian institutions released by the United Kingdom-based group. Prior to 2023, Ateneo de Manila appeared in the rankings with a “reporter status,” meaning that the institution was active in the ranking process despite not being ranked.
This year, a total of five Filipino universities were ranked, with an additional nine others tagged as "reporters." A total of 739 institutions from 31 territories were included this year.
