Office of Student Activities - College (OSA) recently completed a series of Sustainability Design Thinking Workshops, held from 26th February to 12th March, spearheaded by 2023 student delegates of the Global Leadership Program (GLP). Led by Mr. Ralph Jacinto A Quiblat, Director of the Office of Student Activities, along with OSA's dedicated team of Student Affairs Professionals, the workshops aimed to equip student organizations with the tools and mindset of design thinking to address sustainability challenges within their respective groups.
Throughout the workshops, participants engaged in dynamic discussions and hands-on activities, identifying gaps in their current sustainability efforts and designing actionable strategies tailored to their organizational needs. With a focus on fostering innovation and collaboration, the workshops provided a platform for students to explore creative solutions to pressing environmental issues.
The workshops, each spanning one hour, attracted a total of 30 college student organizations, comprising 200 enthusiastic student leaders. Among the participants were non-graduating students, particularly those in their first or second year, reflecting Ateneo's commitment to cultivating a new generation of sustainability leaders.
Students delved into the principles of design thinking, learning how to approach sustainability challenges with empathy, creativity, and strategic thinking. By harnessing the power of design thinking, participants were empowered to develop innovative solutions that can drive positive change within their organizations and beyond.
The success of the Sustainability Design Thinking Workshops was further highlighted by the enthusiastic participation of students and the tangible outcomes achieved by participating organizations. As the workshops concluded, participants left equipped with newfound knowledge, skills, and a renewed commitment to sustainability.
The culmination of the workshops, EcoEngage: Empowering Ateneans for Sustainable Lifestyles, held on 15th March, provided a fitting platform for students to showcase their sustainable initiatives and engage in meaningful dialogue with experts in the field.
