23 Apr 2024
Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) students Enzo Hernandez (7-Balmain), Aegean Nakila (9-Ishida), Nathan Ballatan (9-Grimaltos), and Joey Enriquez (8-Colombiere) won medal awards in the Philippine Heat Round of the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO), which was held online on November 26, 2023. Enzo and Aegean won gold for the secondary 1 and secondary 3 divisions, respectively, while Nathan and Joey won silver medals for the secondary 3 division and secondary 2 divisions, respectively.

As heat round medalists, they have been invited to join the HKISO Final Round either online or onsite from June 7 - 8, 2024. The onsite Olympiad will be held at National University of Singapore and provide participants from various countries and regions the opportunity to work on experiments together.
The HKISO is a global science competition held annually for students from Grades 2 to 12. It closely follows the Hong Kong School Science Syllabus and tests what students have learned in their level of content in its four main categories (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science), thus allowing them to know their strengths and weaknesses so they can better prepare for the other categories.
