Could the Ateneo University Press’ five-year Publisher of the Year streak soon extend to a sixth? With the recent announcement of the 41st National Book Awards finalists, this may well be the case.

On 6 November 2023, the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Manila Critics Circle (MCC) announced the finalists of the 41st National Book Awards, an annual prize honoring the most outstanding book titles written, designed, and published in the Philippines. Compared to last year’s three, this year’s awards honor books written in seven languages: Filipino, English, Bikol, Binisaya, Hiligaynon, Tausug, and Waray. This cycle received 235 title nominations across 34 categories, from poetry to design.
