After a three-year hiatus, the Ateneo Confucius Institute Summer Camp resumed this year from 2-15 July 2023.  Sixteen students from various schools participated in the program, where they enjoyed a two-and-a-half-day Beijing city tour and attended a nine-day Chinese language and culture course at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.

All students passed the HSK Level 2 exam in order to qualify for the program.

The trip started out in Beijing, where the participants visited China’s most famous sites, such as the Great Wall of China, Tian’anmen Square, the Summer Palace, and Beijing Olympic Park.  By seeing these places firsthand, they were able to learn about China’s fascinating history and rich culture.

All of these activities, including meals and accommodations, were subsidized by Sun Yat-sen University and the Chinese International Educational Foundation. Through this Summer Camp, the Ateneo Confucius Institute hopes to encourage more Filipino students to learn about China’s history, culture, language, and modern society, as well as develop friendly and lasting relationships between Filipino students, Chinese students, and teachers.
