A delegation of student affairs administrators and professionals from Bohol Island State University (BISU) recently embarked on a benchmarking visit to Ateneo, focusing on student activities and services. Led by BISU's Student Affairs and Services Director, Engr. Marc Batoy, the delegation explored the campus on Tuesday, June 6th, in an effort to exchange knowledge and best practices.
The visit commenced with a comprehensive tour of the Loyola Heights campus, which encompassed prominent locations including the LS Bookstore, various college buildings, and the revered Church of the Gesu. This opportunity allowed the delegates to gain a firsthand understanding of the campus environment and infrastructure on campus.
Following the tour, a round of interaction and best practices sharing took place, fostering dialogue between the visiting delegation and Ateneo's key personnel. Dr. Maria Luz C. Vilches, Vice President for Higher Education, delivered a brief welcome address, setting the stage for an engaging exchange of ideas.
The event was thoughtfully hosted by Ateneo's Office of Student Affairs Director, Mr. Tats Quiblat. Accompanying him were Mr. Alyson Yap, the Program Director of the JGSOM Management Engineering Program and JGSOM Student Enterprise Coordinator, Mr. Gary Faustino, the Director of the Office of Guidance and Counselling, and Dr. Henrietta Dela Cruz, the Director of Health Services.
The purpose of the benchmarking visit was to enable the BISU delegation to gather insights and inspiration from Ateneo's student activities and services, promoting continuous improvement in their own institution. These occasions for collaboration and knowledge-sharing contribute to the growth and development of student affairs professionals, ultimately benefiting the students they serve.
The visit concluded successfully, with the Bohol administrators expressing their gratitude for the warm reception and valuable insights gained during their time at Ateneo. The exchange between the two institutions showcased the commitment to excellence and continuous improvement shared by both BISU and Ateneo.
Such benchmarking activities play a vital role in fostering collaboration among academic institutions, allowing them to collectively enhance the quality of education and student experiences. As the student affairs administrators from BISU return to Bohol, they carry with them newfound knowledge and ideas that can positively impact the student community at their own institution.
