[AGS] Gender-Fair Treatment Week
06 Mar 2023
Gender discrimination causes inequality between girls and boys around the world. In Ateneo Grade School, we recognize that every boy and girl deserves an equal chance to survive and thrive. We do not believe that gender will determine the activities they engage in or how they get treated.
Sports may be a male-dominated arena, but it is also an activity where we allow girls to participate. We welcome girls to our Summer Offerings for Advancement and Remedial (SOAR) Sports Programs. We recognize their importance in our athletic activities. We invite girls from other schools to perform female characters in our theater plays. We give weight to the female gender when we celebrate our mothers during Mom's Month. We also appreciate the presence of female teachers and treat them as our second parents. Our clinics have male and female doctors, and we recognize that their gender does not affect how they treat us when we get sick. Similarly, our female P.E. teachers teach sports and physical fitness as hardworking as their male counterparts. These are just some of the many examples to show that the school prioritizes gender equality.
This week, we celebrate gender-fair treatment. We move beyond gender stereotypes by recognizing what boys can do; girls can do too! Together let us continue to create a world with equal opportunities for everyone!
