On Tuesday, 28 February 2023, the Ateneo administration and Ateneo Employees Workers Union (AEWU) CBA panels continued to find a common position on the remaining CBA items with the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment. However, during the conference, the panels failed to reach an agreement. The DOLE conciliator and mediator advised both panels to reformulate their proposals in time for the next scheduled conference.
The University continues to maintain that its position regarding Union members’ salaries, signing bonuses, and salary increases is fair and equitable for their 218 members (maintenance staff, technical personnel, and office staff), as well as for the 2,891 other Ateneo employees – faculty, formators, professionals, other non-teaching staff, and administrators.
Salaries and salary increases form only part of the total compensation package that Union members receive and enjoy as part of their employment with Ateneo, which include:
- Rice Allowance (monthly)
- Dependent’s Allowance or Family Subsidy (monthly)
- Union Educational Benefit (per qualified dependent per school year)
- Employee Development Opportunity (qualification for scholarships for employees to enroll in a University program)
- Leave Benefits (Sick, Vacation, Emergency, Bereavement) with corresponding monetary values
- Union Leave with Pay (for Union activities)
- Bereavement Assistance (per death in the employee’s immediate family)
- Health Care Plan coverage
- Critical Illness Benefit
- Group Life Insurance coverage
- University Service Awards
- Retirement Benefits
In addition, the University’s offer to the Union is the most sustainable and most fiscally responsible option. Fiscal responsibility ensures all personnel are equitably and fairly compensated based on their position and performance, in relation to the University’s core activities of teaching, formation, research, and outreach.
The Administration will continue to work with the National Conciliation and Mediation Board, the Department of Labor and Employment, and the AEWU so that the University and the Union will reach a fair and just agreement that will benefit not only a few, but everyone who works in our shared mission. We continue to ask for everyone’s prayers and support so that the negotiations will be concluded favorably.

Noong Martes, 28 Pebrero 2023, patuloy na nagsikap na magkasundo sa natitirang probisyon ng CBA ang mga panel ng Ateneo Administration at Ateneo Employees and Workers Union (AEWU), sa tulong ng Department of Labor and Employment. Hindi umabot sa kasunduan ang mga partido. Payo ng DOLE conciliator-mediator na baguhin ng bawat panig ang kanilang proposal para sa susunod na nakatakdang pulong.
Patuloy na naninindigan ang Pamantasan na makatarungan at tapat ang posisyon nito sa sahod ng miyembro ng Unyon, signing bonus, at pagtaas ng sahod para sa kanilang 218 na miyembro (maintenance staff, manggagawang teknikal, at office staff), at para sa 2,891 na iba pang empleyado ng Ateneo—faculty, formator, propesyonal, iba pang non-teaching staff, at administrator.
Ang sahod at pagtaas ng sahod ay bahagi lamang ng kabuuang compensation package na natatanggap at tinatamasa ng mga miyembro ng Unyon para sa kanilang pagtatrabaho sa Ateneo, at kabilang dito ang mga sumusunod:
- Rice Allowance (buwanan)
- Dependent’s Allowance o Family Subsidy (buwanan)
- Union Educational Benefit (bawat kwalipikadong dependent sa bawat school year)
- Employee Development Opportunity (kwalipikasyon para sa scholarship para maka-enroll ang mga empleyado sa programa sa Pamantasan)
- Leave Benefit (Sick, Vacation, Emergency, Bereavement) na may katumbas na halaga ng pera
- Union Leave with Pay (para sa mga aktibidad ng Union)
- Bereavement Assistance (sa bawat namatay na matalik na kaanak ng empleyado)
- Health Care Plan coverage
- Critical Illness Benefit
- Group Life Insurance coverage
- University Service Awards
- Retirement Benefits
Dagdag pa rito, sa mapagpipilian, pinaka-pangmatagalan at may pananagutan sa abot-kaya ang alok ng Pamantasan sa union. Dulot ng responsibilidad sa pananalapi, natitiyak na patas at makatarungan ang pasahod sa lahat ng kawani, batay sa kanilang posisyon at paggawa, ayon sa mga pangunahing gawain ng Pamantasan: pagtuturo, formation, pananaliksik, at outreach.
Patuloy na makikipagtulungan ang Administrasyon kasama ang National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Department of Labor and Employment, at AEWU upang makamit ng Pamatasan at Unyon ang patas at makatarungang kasunduan. Hindi lang ito pakikinabangan ng iilan, kundi ng lahat ng nagtatrabaho sa misyon nating pinagsasaluhan. Patuloy kaming humihingi ng panalangin at suporta ng lahat upang maging maayos ang negosasyon.
