The Center for Migrant Advocacy, Phils. Inc. (CMA) launched the report of their Vital Signs Project through Zoom and a face-to-face meeting held at the Red Hotel EDSA Cubao, Quezon City on January 26, 2023.
Entitled “Access to Live: Difficulties and Challenges experienced by OFWs in accessing Healthcare Services in the Gulf”, the event captured the second part of their implementation of the Vital Signs Project where they looked deeper into some of the issues faced by our Overseas Filipino Workers in the Gulf, primarily the difficulties they experienced in accessing healthcare services.
Various resource speakers were invited to participate in the event. Representatives from the Philippine Migrant Health Network (PMHN), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and students from the Ateneo de Manila University chimed in and shared their thoughts on various facets of the topic.
Specifically, the student group comprised of Elmer Labesores, Renee Sazon, Rie Dela Costa, Suzette Baccay, Akim Pastoral, and Celestyne Roque presented their insights on one of the topics of concern through a look into what the KSA 2030 Vision for Privatization could mean when juxtaposed with the PH National Policy on the Health of Migrants and Overseas Filipinos.
This research was part of their requirements for their NSTP12-Bigkis Program engagement with CMA throughout the first semester of School Year 2022-2023.
