Guidelines Re: Parking, Drop-Off and Pick-Up on A-SHAPE Days (January 14-15, 2023)

13 Jan 2023 | ASHS Office of Admission and Scholarships

The Ateneo Senior High Admission and Placement Exam (A-SHAPE) will be held on 14-15 January 2023, Saturday and Sunday. There will be two exam sessions on each of the two days: The morning session is at 7:30am to 12:00pm (with assembly at 7:00 am) and the afternoon session is at 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm (with assembly at 1:00 pm).

Assembly and lining-up of examinees will be in the Junior High School Covered Courts. All examinees are expected to be in the assembly venue at or before 7:00 am and 1:00 pm respectively. From the assembly area, examinees will be ushered to their testing rooms in the Senior High School Building starting at 7:15 am and 1:15 pm so that they may begin taking the exam at exactly 7:30 am or 1:30 pm respectively. Examinees must not be late.

*Please expect heavy traffic in the High School complex on the test dates and make sure to plan accordingly.

*Due to the ongoing rehabilitation work being undertaken at the Junior High School Parking Area, please expect uneven/muddy surface conditions along the driveways and parking sections especially when it rains.

The following guidelines regarding parking, drop-off and pick-up will be implemented to make the flow of traffic manageable. We ask the examinees and their parents, guardians, companions and drivers to observe the following guidelines.

Please refer to the following campus map.

Vehicles must either exit the campus or park at the Bellarmine, North or Northwest Carparks or the Upper East and Lower East Carparks.
Vehicles must either exit the campus or park at the Bellarmine, North or Northwest Carparks or the Upper East and Lower East Carparks.

1.   Entry gates and entry pass

For those with vehicles, enter through Gate 2 or 3.

For pedestrians:

If you are coming from the side of Aurora Blvd, enter through pedestrian Gate 1. At the Grade School, Drop-off A (beside Gate 1), you may ride the special shuttle service (electronic jeep) that will bring you to the high school. This e-jeep will ply the following route: Gate 1 (Drop-off A)– Gate 2.5 (E-jeep waiting shed) – High School. Trips will be approximately every 15 minutes, from 6:00 am to 7:30 am, and from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

If you are coming from the side of UP, enter through pedestrian Gate 3.5 across Regis building, Katipunan. At the Northwest parking e-jeep waiting shed, which is beside the Arete building, you may wait for and ride the special shuttle service (electronic jeep) that will bring you to the high school. This special e-jeep will ply the following route: Northwest Parking (near Arete/Gate 3) – High School. Trips will be approximately every 15 minutes, from 6:00 am to 7:30 am, and from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Please note that the e-jeeps may be delayed due to traffic and may be quickly filled with other passengers. Thus, you may also walk all the way to the Ateneo Junior High School from pedestrian Gates 1, 2.5 (across National Book Store and Jollibee) or 3.5. If you will come early enough, a leisurely walk in the morning can be invigorating.

Other Access Gates

For the examinees who come from or have access through Loyola Grand Villas or La Vista, the Ateneo-Mangyan Gate (5) will be passable during the A-SHAPE. Pedestrians coming from Barangka may pass through the Hagdan Gate (6). These gates will be open from 5:30 am to 7 pm.

*All applicants are required to present their exam permits at all entry gates. Thus, examinees must have their printed exam permit ready. Examinees are also asked to leave a second copy of their exam permit with their drivers, if drivers will leave the campus and re-enter at a later time. Those without exam permits will not be allowed to enter the campus.

2.    Drop-off Areas (before the exam) and Parking

For examinees in the Morning Session:

Vehicles may drop-off the examinees at the Ateneo Junior High School driveway (inner driveway, Parking section 1- Bay 1 and 2), but the vehicles cannot park or loiter there. After drop-off, examinees must proceed to the Junior High School Covered Courts.

Parking will not be allowed in the vicinity of the Junior High School, but abundant parking will be available in the Loyola Schools campus, specifically the North Carpark, the Bellarmine Carpark, and the Northwest Carpark. Additional parking will be available in the Upper East and Lower East Carparks. (See map below.)

Vehicles must either exit the campus or park at the Bellarmine, North or Northwest Carparks or the Upper East and Lower East Carparks.

For examinees in the Afternoon Session:

Vehicles may drop-off the examinees at the Ateneo High School inner driveway in front of the Pamplona quadrangle (near the High School Chapel). After drop-off, examinees must proceed to the Junior High School Covered Courts. Vehicles must either exit the campus or park at the Bellarmine, North or Northwest Carparks or the Upper East and Lower East Carparks. (See image of previous map for all carparks and map below for the drop-off point.)

1.   Pick-up points after the exam

For examinees in the Morning Session:

Examinees will not be allowed to loiter in the high school area after the exam.

Pedestrians may take the shuttle service (E-jeep) from the Ateneo Junior High School inner driveway to Ateneo Grade School Drop-off B beside the Blue Eagle Gym or to Arete near Gate 3. They may also choose to walk toward any of the gates of the campus to exit to Katipunan. All are reminded to bring umbrellas. Applicants who are on foot are requested to immediately leave the high school grounds.

Vehicles of morning examinees may pick-up the examinees at the Junior High School Bays 1 and 2 starting 12:00 noon. Morning examinees are asked to wait in the tents in the parking area near Bay 1 and Bay 2. All examinees are reminded to bring umbrellas. Please note that vehicles will

not be allowed to park and loiter in the High School driveway or parking area. Vehicles that loiter in the driveways and in Bays 1 and 2 will be asked to exit the high school area. Applicants are asked to quickly board their vehicles and exit the high school grounds. This request is out of consideration for the afternoon examinees whose vehicles may be delayed if the vehicles of the morning examinees clog the lanes. We ask the morning examinees (and their drivers) to give utmost consideration to the afternoon examinees.

*Pick up of morning examinees in the inner driveway will be allowed only in the case of strong rain. In this situation, morning examinees may be picked up only in the part of the inner driveway that is near the high school cafeteria.

For examinees in the Afternoon Session:

The afternoon examinees who finished the ASHAPE may be picked up by their vehicles at the Ateneo High School driveway. They may also choose to walk toward any of the gates of the campus to exit to Katipunan. (There will be no shuttle service to the gates.)

2.   Waiting Area for Companions of Examinees

Parents and guardians of examinees who will choose to stay in the campus while waiting may stay in the first floor of the Ateneo Senior High School Formation and Learning Center (FLC). Companions may ask the security guards to direct them to the FLC. Strolling anywhere else in the Ateneo High School premises while waiting is not allowed. Although there are chairs and restrooms in the waiting area, no food will be sold anywhere in the High School campus. Thus, companions who intend to wait for the whole duration of the exam must bring their own food and water. Only one companion per examinee will be allowed.

UP Town Center (mall) is near Ateneo, and may be a good place for companions to wait.
