ASOG, KAS formally launch YouthIN Mindanao
01 Sep 2022
The Ateneo School of Government and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines formally opened the YouthIN: Youth for Inclusive Democracy for Mindanao youth leaders last August 26, 2022. More than forty young leaders from different provinces and regions in Mindanao attended the orientation, where they were able to get to know their fellow young leaders, establish common ground, and share their perspectives on the role of youth in democracy.
For the next three weeks, the youth leaders will work through three online training modules that aim to provide them an avenue to make sense of their leadership journey and some practical foundations in standing for leadership positions. As their resource speaker for the first module, Mr. Arjan Aguirre from the Department of Political Science at Ateneo de Manila University will assist them in reflecting on their leadership journeys and understanding their role in democracy. The application of design thinking in leadership and governance will be covered in the second module by Mr. Karl Satinitigan of the WeSolve Foundation, Inc. And finally, the importance of youth involvement and participation in formal and informal institutional spaces will be discussed by Atty. Ernesto Neri of Xavier University Center for Legal Assistance.
The online training is expected to culminate on September 17, 2022, with invited leaders from diverse backgrounds inspiring the YouthIN participants with their stories of hope and youth empowerment.
