Ateneo Law School welcomes back students onsite; holds Dean’s Hour
08 Aug 2022
Amidst a rainy Monday morning, on the 8th of August 2022, the Ateneo Law School welcomed back students onsite. The ALS conducted its first day of face to face classes. It held the Dean’s Hour for sophomores, juniors and seniors. The Dean’s Hour for the freshmen was held during their Introduction to Law class in July.
The Dean’s Hour, held at the start of every semester, provides an opportunity for each batch to look into what lies ahead for the coming school year. For the upper year levels, it is also a time of taking stock of what has been accomplished in the past.
During this semester’s Dean’s Hour, Dean Jose Maria G. Hofileña first spoke about the events of July 24, 2022. As would-be lawyers following the rule of law, Dean Hofileña enjoined the students to condemn violence. He challenged the students uphold fidelity to the truth against a culture of untruth and historical revisionism. He shared with the students the gratitude that was felt by the ALS community in coming together and offering help to one another.

Dean Hofileña then discussed with the students some matters to consider during the first semester. Among which were: use of online tools, library resources, counseling services, health protocols, academic responsibilities and class schedules.
Dean Hofileña updated the students of the outstanding admission requirements, CLEP and the planned refurbishment. He also reminded the students of pertinent provisions of the Anti-Hazing Law. He invited the students to the upcoming Red Mass on August 12, 2022.
During the last part of the program, Dean Hofileña announced and congratulated the students who made it to the honors’ list in the past semester.
