Barbacena, Bejarin, and Valenzuela are grand champions of Asia Schools debate

Competing against some of the most prestigious, pre-university regional teams on the Asian continent, the team of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School debaters Daniella Barbacena (11-Bellarmino), Ivan Valenzuela (11-Gavan), & recent graduate David Bejarin (12-Grodecky) broke 1st in the Open Category and was unanimously crowned Open Grand Champion of the Asia Schools Open 2022 debate.
Individually, David was recognized as the Open Finals Best Speaker and the Overall Best Open Speaker. Daniella and Ivan, on the other hand, tied as the 3rd Best Open Speakers.
Hosted by EduDrift, the Asia Schools Open was held on May 21-22, 2022. Its judging panel was composed of world and regional champions, many of whom are regarded as legends within the debate circuit.
