Dr Carmel V Abao is the new chair of the Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science has named Dr Carmel “Melay” V Abao as the new department chair.
Dr Abao joined the Political Science Faculty in 2008 and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science. She specializes in social movement studies and international political economy as an academic. She was also the founding President of the Ateneo Loyola Schools Faculty Association (ALSFA) from September 2018 to December 2021. She received her MA in Politics and Governance from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, and her PhD in Development Studies from De La Salle University-Manila.
