Scholarship, research, and creativity honored in University Scholarly Work Awards 2022

Members of the Ateneo de Manila University community who have made outstanding contributions to their classrooms, fields of study, and the greater community were honored in the University Scholarly Work Awards 2022 held on 6 June 2022 at Leong Hall.

The event was held on-site for the first time after two years

"It is a real joy to be able to gather again as a community on-site, on-campus, face-to-face to recognize and celebrate your achievements this past year. The depth and breadth of your accomplishments, despite the continued restrictions to physical movement and socialization, is truly inspiring," said Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, University President.

"We are truly grateful that many of your works focus on educational reform, transformation, integral ecology, universal health and wellbeing, and bridging cultural divides as well as other issues that our society faces. If we truly wish to make a positive impact on the lives of our people, if we truly wish for a society that is inclusive, progressive, and just, we must continue aspiring for these magis areas and lending our expertise as academics and researchers to programs and projects."

Among the awards given during the ceremony were Outstanding Scholarly Work with Social Impact and Outstanding Scholarly Work in Sustainability. The Loyola Schools Outstanding Scholarly Work with Most Social Impact was presented to Dr Jocelyn S Martin, Dr  Celeste Aida A Jugo, Mr Glenn L Diaz, Mr Alexis Augusto L Abola, Mr Jamie Bautista, Mr Carlomar A Daoana, Ms Samantha Chiu, Mr Amiel Christian Deuna, Ms. Patricia Narvasa, Mr Ron Edward Nadela, Ms Jan Caitlyn Ong, and  Ms Katarina Rodriguez for their work" Triggered: Creative Responses to Extrajudicial Killings in the Philippines."

For their work, "Factors Affecting Retention in the Philippine National Rural Physician Deployment Program from 2012 to 2019: A Mixed Methods Study," the Ateneo Professional

Schools Scholarly Work Award with Most Social Impact was given to Ms Erika Louise L Flores, Mr Edric Matthew R Manahan, Mr Miguel Paolo B Lacanilao, Ms Isabella Ma Beatriz T Ladaw, Mr Mico Martin B Mallillin, Mr Nikolai Thadeus Q Mappatao and Mr Veincent Christian F Pepito.

Ateneo Professional Schools Scholarly Work Award with Most Social Impac

Winner of the Ateneo Professional Schools Scholarly Work Award with Most Social Impact with Fr Yap, Dr Vilches and Dr Alfonso.

For their work "Multilevel Pathways of Rural and Urban Poverty as Determinants of Childhood Undernutrition in the Philippines," the Loyola Schools Scholarly Work Award in Sustainability was given to  Ms Vanessa T Siy Van, Dr Eden Delight P Miro, Dr Leslie A Lopez, and Mr Joselito T Sescon.

Dr Czarina A. Saloma-Akpedonu, MsCherie Audrey D Alfiler, and Mr Erik Akpedonu received the Loyola Schools Scholarly Work Award in Sustainability for their work "Locating Leisure and Belonging in Metro Manila: From Hyper-conditioned Environments to Public Green Spaces."

For her work "Addressing the Risks that Trade Secret Protections Pose for Health and Rights, the Ateneo Professional Schools Scholarly Work Award in Sustainability was given to  Atty  Patricia Anne D Sta Maria.
