Kritika Kultura welcomes Jeremy De Chavez to its international board of editors

Jeremy De ChavezKritika Kultura, the refereed electronic journal of literary, cultural, and language studies of the Ateneo de Manila University, welcomes Jeremy De Chavez to its International Board of Editors.

Dr. De Chavez is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Macau. Postcolonial studies, global Anglophone literature, and critical/cultural theory are his primary areas of research and instruction, but he is also a “strategic generalist with wide-ranging interests across literary periods, genres, and cultural forms.” His articles are published or forthcoming in the following journals: Critical Arts; ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature; Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association; The Explicator; ANQ:  A Quarterly Journal of Short Articles, Notes and Reviews; Kemanusiaan The Asian Journal of Humanities; Masculinities and Social Change; Text Matters; Food, Culture, & Society; and Kritika Kultura.

In Kritika Kultura, Dr. De Chavez published “‘Love Is…’: An Inaesthetic Inquiry on Love and Attention in Aureus Solito’s "The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros” (KK 27) and “Consumed by Affects: Kwentong Jollibee [Jollibee Stories], Happy Objects, and the Formation of Intimate Publics” (KK 38). 

Dr. De Chavez is currently writing the monograph, Positive Affects and Postcolonial Critique, for Routledge. He is editor of Archipelagothic: Studies in the Philippine Gothic for Anthem Press and co-editor of a special issue on postcolonial affect for ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature.

Patke (Yale NUS College, SG), Carlos M. Piocos, III (De La Salle University, PH), Vicente L. Rafael (University of Washington, US), Vaidehi Ramanathan (University of California, Davis, US), Temario Rivera (University of the Philippines, PH), E. San Juan, Jr. (Philippine Studies Center, US), Neferti X.M. Tadiar (Columbia University, US), and Antony Tatlow (Trinity College Dublin, IE).

“My co-editors and I extend a warm welcome to Dr. De Chavez,” says Kritika Kultura editor in chief, Dr. Vincenz Serrano. “Dr. De Chavez’s expertise—which include affect theory, postcolonial studies, and gothic studies, and critical theory—can help Kritika Kultura explore, and hopefully publish work in, these areas.”
