Alferez and Tagarda win bronze for math in SIMSO nat’l round

Ateneo de Manila Grade School students Ethan Alferez (3-Kanlaon) and Miguel Tagarda (2-Yakal) both won the bronze award for Math in the Siam International Math & Science Olympics (SIMSO) Philippines National Round, which was held online on November 7, 2021. Ethan competed in the primary 2 division, while Miguel competed in the primary 1 division.

Based in the Kingdom of Thailand, SIMSO aims to discover champions from all over the globe who are passionate about numbers, logic, and science.
As national round medalists, Ethan and Miguel will advance to the SIMSO Final Round, which is tentatively scheduled to be held next month. Participating countries in the SIMSO Final Round will include Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, France, Georgia, Ghana, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
